Title: Innovation as a Science
Subtitle: A Universal Approach
Author : Miguel Aubouy
Preface: Laurent Simon
Collection: The Unruly
Reference : No. Y1.1
Description of the work:
This book proposes a paradigm shift for innovation.
Until now, innovation was an instrument serving a science. It was not a science in its own right. Innovation is taught for business or innovation for engineering, for example. Innovation is never taught independently of the specific field in which it is sought to be applied. Contrary to this conception, Miguel Aubouy proposes elevating innovation to the status of a science in its own right. From this perspective, technology, business, natural sciences, or art are all possible cases of application, without this list being exhaustive.
To do this, the author takes us to the beating heart of innovation. As we discover different case studies, we also discover three principles. These principles are universal: they are found in entrepreneurship, technology, science, art, and more.
We soon understand that these three principles are enough to answer most of the questions: How did some people succeed in innovating? Why did others fail? What are the difficulties?
So, we realize that these three principles can guide anyone who wants to innovate, for their organization or for their community.
"You must urgently read Miguel Aubouy's "little" book.
Because innovation has become too important a phenomenon today not to be understood.
Because it takes us away from the clichés about innovation, which too often promote an almost magical, if not miraculous, image of discovery, invention, creativity and innovation itself.
Because innovation itself has changed, and we need to move away from an essentially technological paradigm to question innovation as a committed practice – individual and collective – in the search for solutions for people, before being an approach to developing new products or services.
Because it paints us an edifying and ultimately reassuring model of innovation as a process , a sequence of activities structured around a clear common thread which defines its priority: the search for utility for the user, before the quest for economic value.
Miguel Aubouy's book is a must-read because it humanizes this phenomenon by analyzing portraits of innovative entrepreneurs who, beyond their unique talents, appear above all as human beings motivated by the desire to help and make a difference in the world, for the world.
[...]
You have to read Miguel Aubouy's book, because it's a great book, and it could also help us grow..."

Sandrine - Hypercreation February 2024Verified reviewAnother approach to AII gradually saw AI arrive in my scientific research on the behavior of materials, first through modeling, then big data, machine learning and deep learning... I admit that I began to doubt the path that was being traced before my eyes... and then came Flavien CHERVET and his vision of AI... I admit that his way of seeing things and especially of expressing them makes me revise my copy... so, I encourage everyone to read HYPERCREATION! Thank you Flavien. Is this review helpful? 0 0

Vincent - Hyperprompt June 2024Verified reviewThe best French book to start AIBeing already familiar with LLM and generative AI, I bought Hyperpompt in order to have the basic techniques and advance on ChatGPT 4. And it is honestly one of my best investments so far! Because in addition to being written in a fluid and understandable style, Flavien Chervet gives us, in addition to his advanced prompt techniques, a whole bunch of studies and examples that would have been worth the price of the book alone. You can buy it with your eyes closed if you are interested in the world of AI and this whatever your level! Is this review helpful? 0 0

Ocb - Innovation as a science October 2024Verified reviewUnlock the secret of innovation and creationWhether you are an entrepreneur, innovator, innovation manager, business leader, artist or simply curious about life, this book will change your life. You will discover that THE great secret of creation is not one. The author, a researcher by training, demonstrates that innovation follows a unique and precise protocol, whatever the discipline in which it is practiced: science, technology, art, ... He documents his point with numerous concrete examples that serve as a reference. Finally, he delivers the protocol that his years of research have allowed him to formalize. A clear manual that offers everyone, innovator/creator, manager, leader, financier, the key to understanding the innovation process and the role to be played by each to succeed. I have already read and reread this book that I keep preciously. I am buying it again to give as a gift.Is this review helpful? 0 0

Raphaële - Be a number two October 2013Verified reviewTastyThis is a delightful little treatise. It's a quick read, but it stays within. While its content is related to scientific innovation, it's easy to see how it can be linked to many aspects of life and how we approach it. Thanks to the author for this moment of reading. I'm eager to discover the second volume, "Men Covered in Clouds." A great title for that one too! (While I'm going to give "Be a Number Two" to a friend who is developing a very young start-up)Is this review helpful? 0 0

Hervé - Hyperprompt November 2024Verified reviewVery informative if you want a book on writing promptsIf you prefer to have a book to learn how to write your requests to any type of GPT, this one is among the best. The examples are varied, the recommendations well structured, there is a section on image generation. There are a lot of videos online on the subject, but this book offers a very good reference, to read it calmly before tackling the generation of texts and images. Is this review helpful? 0 0

Carole - Be a number two August 2013Verified reviewBe a number 2 or the art of opening your eyesThis book is a hymn to humanity! It is not enough to be the best or to leave at the right time, you still have to be there at the right time! Number 1 is the one who falls asleep, who loses his dreams, or does he go after glory? While number 2 is the one who is becoming, the one who has to build, to grow! It is not the bastard status of the 2nd that makes it so interesting but what he then does with his condition! Illustrated with telling examples, this book is a gold mine to put in everyone's hands! Is this review helpful? 0 0

Belen - Hyperprompt March 2024Verified reviewGreat book! Even for beginnersI just received the book and I'm delighted to discover it. I'm a beginner in the field of prompting and this book really makes me want to learn. I don't regret my purchase at all and I'm happy with my investment. I'll be able to learn and then improve in the subject in a fun way. Thank you to Flavien Chervet, author of this book, for sharing his knowledge with us.Is this review helpful? 0 0

Couzon - Hypercreation August 2023Verified reviewDiscover and understand the issues related to AI through a fascinating readExcellent! Flavien Chervet introduces us to AI, its origins, its evolution, its challenges with fluid and pleasant writing. The first part reads like a thriller until that day in March 2016 and the famous move played by AlphaGo. The rest, precise, shows us the rapid evolution of AI in all areas, texts, images, arts.....Personally, I loved the finale with the C-Borgs, creative (?) and the questions surrounding their cohabitation with humanity....Is this review helpful? 0 0

Eric - The Hunter, the Mage and the Farmer or the Three Tests of Innovation October 2024Verified reviewFinally !To any innovator who, like me, has found themselves faced with multiple incomprehensible oppositions during their innovation process (especially disruptive): this book and its sequel, "Innovation as Science," have finally given me answers that make sense with my personal experience. And the same goes for my colleagues. Since then, I have noticed an easing of relationships during our times of innovation. Clear, incisive works, with a broad point of view. Liberating works. Is this review helpful? 0 0

Julien - Hypercreation August 2024Verified reviewAn excellent book to dive into the heart of the creative potential of AI, our tool of tomorrow! This book perfectly reflects its author: he is a teacher, endowed with artistic sensitivity and a forward-looking vision. A novice in the field, I was "initiated" to AI during Flavien's captivating lectures, awakening in me the curiosity to delve deeper into the subject. This manual details the creation of various forms of AI, their creative mechanisms, illustrated by relevant examples, showing the already notable imprint of AI on our artistic future. I was particularly struck by the perspective that Flavien offers on societal issues: AI cannot supplant our creativity, but can stimulate it if we manage to master it. This book is an exploration full of optimism and philosophical reflection, essential for those aspiring to grasp and embrace the creative future, both professionally and personally. Above all, he invites us to overcome our fears about these "C-borgs" and to consider a harmonious coexistence, and why not, find new solutions to the global challenges we face!Is this review helpful? 0 0

Jacques - Men covered in clouds August 2013Verified reviewA rare happiness...It is a rare joy, in the publications of researchers, to find brought together in a single work relevance of substance, simplicity of purpose and quality of expression. This is a reading that enlightens and delights, that liberates and motivates, that opens horizons and invites exploration for the simple joy of being present in the world and its mysteries. Well beyond the treatise on innovation, it is a small philosophy of life that is offered to us, to reconnect with the vitality and agility of the child capable of pursuing his idea in playful interaction with the world around him. Recommended to all those who lack oxygen. Is this review helpful? 0 0

Frédéric - Innovation as a science October 2024Verified reviewA universal protocol for innovationThe power of a theory is recognized by its beauty, according to Nobel laureate physicist Murray Gell-Mann. If we stick to this idea, then it is not impossible that we are dealing with a powerful theory of innovation in this book, accessible to all, illustrated with well-known examples that allow us to reflect on our own innovation projects, immediately illuminated in a new light. Is this review helpful? 0 0
